Intellectual property
Protects your varieties
A variety can be protected by means of Intellectual Property, e.g. Plant Breeders’ Rights, Plant Patent, Trademark, Utility Patent, etc. For the breeder this is a method to receive compensation for his R&D/breeding efforts. These rights give the breeder the opportunity to receive a royalty fee based on the use of the variety, and also control of the marketing and production processes. RAI relieves the breeder of this entire, often complex and long-term process, allowing the breeder to focus entirely on his core business: creating new, successful varieties.
With more than 600 new applications, RAI annually registers the various intellectual property rights for breeders in more than 30 countries.
RAI has a unique online database whereby the breeder can track the status of their Intellectual Property applications and any updates of current state of affairs.
